Festival Fashion- Step One: Packing the Essentials

This post was actually suggested by a friend who is going to a festival in the summer and she wants to know what to wear. I have decided to put an original spin on it as it is this time of year that everyone is writing about festival fashion. I am going to try and make a series of posts (I will try to post one daily) that create a virtual festival/guide to festivals starting from before you leave to when you get back and including everything in between. I am also writing a short story about some friends at a festival that I will post too.
First of all you need to pack so here is the perfect festival essential packing list to ensure that you and your friends have the best time possible:
1) A tent- I thought we'd start with the basics because you are going to need somewhere secure and weather proof to sleep in which leads onto...
2) Sleeping bag and/or other forms of comfort- in my case I would take a tent and a pillow and my cushtie because I can rarely sleep without it. In fact, I am so attached to my cushtie that I have named it! It's called Cushtina like Christina!
3) Toiletries and Makeup- My must-haves are body butter, deodorant, facial wash, makeup wipes, tooth brush and tooth paste, shampoo, conditioner, mascara, eyeliner, foundation and lip gloss/balm. Obviously if you have to bring specific pills or an inhaler bring them too but I would also recommend bringing a small first aid kit with plasters, paracetamol etc. I would also recommend bringing some form of hay fever tablets/relief and any lady essentials that you might need.
4) Tickets- I don't know why I didn't put this one at the top because you won't be able to even get into the festival without these beauties that you could possibly have been saving up for for ages.
5) Maps/directions- you or whoever is taking you should have an emergency map in their car anyway but it is for just that "emergencies" so it is probably best to print out a set of directions from the Internet. If you or whoever is driving you has a SatNav then type the address into there as well as having written directions.
6) Camera- you are aiming to have an amazing time and what must you do when you're having an amazing time? Take photos! Then a week, year or even decade later you can look back and remember how amazing it all was!
7) Handbag Essential Phone- an absolute essential. You must have your phone on you and make sure you have credit and battery for obvious safety and social reasons.
8) Torch- can be used for going on a moonlit walk or just walking back to the tent late at night.
9) Cutlery- these need only be plastic and paper but they are always handy to have on a trip away, especially if you are going to make your own food (if you are then you will need to bring cooking equipment too but I don't really know much about that so I don't want to misguide you.)
10) Rubbish bags- to put rubbish in.
11) Any games you might want to play- could be board games or things like hula hooping, catch or Frisbee.
12) Umbrella- I am going to go into more detail on rain wear in my next post when I will talk about what to wear at a festival.
13) Bug spray. Damn you mosquitoes, wasps and other annoying insects! To keep the bug problem at ease make sure you bring bug spray or they will leave you feeling very sore.
14) Hair ties- hair can sometimes get incredibly annoying so make sure you bring something to tie it back with. The sort that I am talking about here are not fashion accessories. They are just plain, boring essentials that are, well, essentials.
15) Things to do- i.e. books, magazines, note pads, work (only if there is any that seriously needs to be done.)
16) Handbag Essential Guide book or schedule- when you enter a festival make sure you pick up any leaflets that might give you clues about different things happening and starting times etc. It's incredibly annoying when you go somewhere and later find out you only did half the activities available.
17) Handbag Essential Pen and paper- you can write down details about the festival if someone tells you something while you are there. I like to carry pen and paper in my handbag just so I can write down any ideas I get for future stories/novels or blog posts.
18) Handbag Essential Purse with money in it- for both emergencies and convenience.
19) Handbag Essential Mini fan and/or sunscreen- this is only needed if you think the weather will be hot.
20) Handbag Essential Hand Sanitiser- I always carry a bottle of sanitiser round with me but it is more needed at a festival as some places there are quite unsanitary.
