at the festival part three

By the time Liza got to the entrance of Glastonbury her heart was doing somersaults. She was exuding excitement. She disliked drawing attention to herself so she felt embarrassed because she felt so happy that she genuinely believed that she might be glowing brightly. She showed her ticket then collected a map and a time table. She headed in the direction of her campsite. Hauling along her big bag, guitar and a tent proved to be rather challenging for skinny Liza so she was relieved when she heard someone behind her offer to help. She turned around and saw a girl around her age. Liza nodded. "Thank you" she whispered. The girl took hold of Liza's tent.
"Hi, I'm Jeannie, by the way" Jeannie said. Another girl, about the same age approached Jeannie. "And this is my friend, Tia."
"Hiya" Tia smiled.
Tia and Jeannie walked to the campsite with Liza. They helped her put up her tent and then all sat inside it. "So, do you have a tent?" Liza asked the two girls.
"Nahh" Tia replied "We won't be sleeping much this weekend."
"Oh" Liza said.
"So, you play the guitar?" Jeannie said, glancing at Liza's guitar on the floor at the other end of the small tent.
Liza nodded.
"Do you wanna become a real hippie guitar rocker person thingy?" Jeannie asked.
"What, like play it professionally?" Liza asked.
"Yeah, something like that" Jeannie shrugged.
"Well yes, I'd love to do that" Liza smiled.
Jeannie nodded, knowingly then she dug her hand inside her pockets. When she pulled her hand out she was holding a clear plastic bag, sealed along the top. Liza struggled to see what it was but she soon caught a glimpse of the brown substance inside. Cannabis.

watch out: the fruitz are about

I am in love with vintage metal watches at the moment but I didn't feel the same way a year ago as I bought a more modern (yet equally as gorgeous) Fruitz watch for my birthday. I must say it took me forever to decide on a colour though. Just look at the variety:
You can probably understand why I was having difficulty in deciding. On one hand I liked the watermelon one (green strap and red face) because it is the signature style of the brand but on the other hand I wanted a pink one because I love the colour pink and most of the things that are wear are pink, include pink or match pink but then again on the other hand (I was having a bit of a weird time, so weird that I seemed to have grown three hands!) pink would completely clash with my school uniform which, realistically, I would be wearing a lot. You are probably wondering which one I chose in the end so now I will show you;
I eventually decided on the dragon fruit colour watch because it incorporated pink but at the same time the grey strap would ensure that it matches almost anything. I must admit that it took me a while to get to grips with the fact that the watch did not have numbers and that it was not water proof as all the previous watches I had had were both. I went on holiday a couple of weeks after purchasing the watch and I did jump in the pool with it still on a few times but fortunately it survived. On the Fruitz Website the dragon fruit watch is described as "exuding a positive glow" which is fabulously true. When I am feeling sad I can actually say that looking at my watch makes me feel happier (unless I'm feeling sad because I'm wasting time or running out of time ect!) I'm not saying that this feeling is guarenteed but it does have a Natural Frequency disc that rests comfortably on the other side of the watch face. This Natural Frequency techonology means that the Fruitz watches claim to reduce stress, make you feel calm and help you get to sleep. So, not only is it oozing with style and "exuding a positive glow" it will help you stay on top of things too. I am very pleased with my watch which is good because at £149 it wasn't cheap for me!

The Rebelious One
The hot pink colouring of this watch is perfect for the rowdy, rebellious personality. Raspberries grow wildly and are difficult to control and that is the personality of this watch. I was considering getting this watch last year but then decided that it was a little bit too pink (gasp, I never thought I'd say that about anything!)

The Eco Chic
In the past decade the colour green has become more and more world renowned for representing both peace and the environment. For these reasons this watch is suited to those that are passionate about both wildlife and recycling. The vibrant colour will suit almost anyone who is daring enough to pull it off.
The Sporty One
I now love the blueberry watch because this shade of blue is very chic this season and it would bring out the blue in my eyes. It is perfect for a sporty personality or for someone who likes to hang out at the beach. Just make sure you take it off before you go in the water!

at the festival part two

Jeanie pulled her hood up and lunged forwards at the girl. She managed to free Tia and they legged it “Run!” Jeanie screamed. And they did. They ran all the way through the high street and into the shopping centre, through the shopping centre and into the car park. By the time they reached the car park they were both out of breath but fortunately the girl whose bag they had nicked had been unable to keep up with them. “You idiot” Jeanie said, between gasps of breath “You weren’t meant to take the whole bloody bag.”
“I had to do something” Tia said “Otherwise we would have been there all day.”
Jeanie sighed “Well, do you have the tickets?”
Tia looked around the brown leather handbag until she found a pink Fiorelli purse. She opened the purse and sure enough, inside it, were two tickets to Glastonbury. “Yep” Tia replied “The tickets are here.
“Right then” Jeanie said “We better get home and pack. We’re going to Glastonbury!”

Melissa threw her suitcase out of her window. She did a quick pray that it wouldn’t make a loud noise as it hit the ground. She let out a sigh of relief when it didn’t. Now it was time for an even trickier manoeuvre. Melissa now had to get herself out of the window. She had thought up an escape route but it was still sketchy in her mind because she was forbidden to leave her room therefore she had planned the journey to the ground just from what she could see from her bedroom window looking down. The fact that it was dark outside did not help either. Melissa took a deep breath in as she stuck her right leg out the window. She managed to find a secure branch to rest it on. Next she got out her left leg and placed it next to her right. She moved her first hand off the window sill but as she did this the branch, that she had once thought was secure, snapped. She could not help herself from letting out a scream but as she did so her parents’ bedroom light turned on almost instantly. Melissa was in pain as she had fallen from the first floor. As she stood up an agonising pain shot through her ankle. She clenched her teeth as she took a step forward. It killed but she knew she couldn’t waste any time. Her parents would be out any minute now. The lights went on, on the ground floor and Melissa knew she would have to break into a run. She grabbed her suitcase and sprinted down her road.

Shoes!!!!

Wow, how do I start a post with that title. I could talk about such a range of topics/styles that this post could really go on endlessly. I decided to write about shoes when I was browsing http://www.net-a-porter.com/ and I found some gorgeous shoes that simply could not go unaccounted for.

Lanvin
I love these shoes because I love pink. They are definitely eye catching and so girly. Plus they will make you look a hell of a lot taller. Jeanne Lanvin started making clothes for her daughter and they soon attracted attention from a number of wealthy people who wanted her to make clothing for their own children. The Lanvin empire included dye factories and stores selling more than just clothes. They also sold home decor, menswear, furs, lingerie and perfumes. Lanvin died in 1946 and the business went to his daughter, Marie-Blanche de Polignac however, she died childless in 1958 and gave the empire to her cousin, Yves Lanvin. Since then the ownership has swapped round through various business people but, sadly it has not stayed in the family. In September 2, 2010, Lanvin collaborated with H&M in their Winter 2010 collection.
Marc by Marc Jacobs
This season the stylish sportswear trend has involved heeled trainers like these ones from Marc by Marc Jcobs which also have a bit of a military vibe. Marc Jacobs was born in 1963 and he is the creative director of Louis Vuitton as well as being the founder of his own internationally successful label.
Miu Miu
These shoes are very classic chic. They are perfect if you are looking for a classy look and they are not too high therefore can be worn during the day. Miu Miu is designed by the current owner of Prada, Miuccia Prada. She was born in 1949 and is an active member of the Communist party as well as a women's rights activists. Muiccia Prada is known for her understated, minimalist, classic, laid back and comfortable luxury.

Giuseppe Zanotti
I love the lace on these shoes which is very on trend. Giuseppe Zanotti is a global designer shoe brand and can be bought from a variety of nice shops and online stores.

Now, the shoes from net-a-porter are slightly pricey but I have found this AMAZING online shop (well, someone else recommended it to me) that sells designer shoes for completely affordable prices! http://www.shoeaholics.com/
I would definitely recommend checking it out! They do designer shoes from only £9!!!

festival fashion: a short story- at the festival

Liza had dreamt of going to Glastonbury for the last three years of her life and she had finally saved up enough money to go. Her mum had agreed to it as Liza was now old enough to go on her own. She would get the bus there. It would involve a lot of change overs but her mum didn't want to have to pay for petrol to get her there and then have to drive all the way back. Liza's parents had split up a year previously and her and her mum had been suffering financial difficulties ever since. Liza had only saved up enough for her to go on her own so she was bringing no friends. Her mum had told her that she would make some friends but Liza doubted it. She was no good at making friends. She was bringing her steel string guitar with her in case she got bored or lonely.  Liza was an average girl. She was quite shy and often went unnoticed. She was the sort of person whose name was always forgotten and it embarrassed her, having to keep reminding people of it. She had shoulder length mousy brown hair and she was quite short. Although she was very shy, you would never guess if you had seen her at performing. She played guitar (electric and acoustic), piano, saxophone, violin and she had a beautiful voice. She expressed everything she felt through music. If she had been playing one of her instruments right before she left for Glastonbury that morning she would have been playing very loudly indeed.

The day before the first day of Glastonbury was Carmella's sixteenth birthday. She slept in late but was woken up at ten o'clock by her parents bringing her breakfast in bed. "Where are my presents?" she asked.
"You'll get them later" her mother replied "Eat first." Carmella sighed but then proceeded to eat her food as quickly as she could.
"Now can I have my presents?" Carmella asked.
"Follow me" her father said and both her parents led her outside. On the driveway sat a baby pink Volkswagen Kombi.
Carmella was confused "But I can't even drive."
"Look inside" her parents smiled. Carmella walked up to the door and took a peek. There were stacks and stacks of presents but her mother shouted "Open the envelope first." So, Carmella sat down and opened the envelope. She was expecting a boring card to be inside but she was pleasantly surprised to find two tickets to Glastonbury.
She turned round to her parents "Thanks so much, which one of you is gonna come with me?"
"We're both working, but you're old enough to go on your own now" her father said.
"We thought maybe you could go with Melisa" her mother suggested "We've hired a chauffeur to take you there in your new van tomorrow morning."
"But my party's tonight" Carmella said "I won't be able to get up early."
"Why not?" her father asked "You won't be going to bed late and you certainly won't be drinking."
"Right" said Carmella "I'll call Melisa now."
Melisa's phone rang but it wasn't Melissa who answered. It was her mum. "Hello, Carmella."
"Hi Mrs Ornellas. Can I talk to Melissa?" Carmella asked.
"Certainly not" Mrs Ornellas said. Then she hung up.
Carmella sighed and dialled the number of Melisa's emergency phone. Melisa's mum was really strict and her phone was confiscated often so Melisa had bought another phone that her mum didn't know about.

Melisa answered her phone "Carmella, my mum found the alcohol I was gonna bring to yours tonight. She went crazy. I’m totally grounded for the foreseeable future.”
Melisa listened as Carmella described the Glastonbury tickets.
“That sucks” Melisa said “I’d love to go, but…”
“You can go” Carmella said on the other side of the phone “Don’t come to my party tonight because your mum will know where you’ve gone but pack your things and walk round mine first thing tomorrow morning when your parents are still asleep. I’ll tell my parents that your mum said it’s fine but really she won’t know anything about it.”
“OK, let’s do it” Melisa said, smiling.

Jeanie and Tia were walking through the high street, but they weren’t shopping. They had been following a certain girl for two hours now. “Jeanie, do we have to do this? I mean, I want to, but we’ve been walking round for two hours. She’ll get suspicious” Tia said.
“Don’t be such a pussy. She hasn’t noticed so far so she's too dumb to notice. We are getting those tickets even if it takes us all day.”
“Fine” Tia said “Let’s get on with it then.” Tia pulled up her hood over her head and sprinted forwards before Jeanie could stop her. Tia grabbed the girl’s bag but the girl grabbed Tia. Tia struggled but she couldn’t break free. The girl had a firm grasp.

festival fashion: a virtual journey

Get in the vehicle, turn on the engine and let the music play!

Share out the sweets!
YUM! I know they say that reading on a journey makes you sick and blah, blah, blah but I personally find it a great way to pass the time. Magazines are better than books because if you start to feel sick you can just look at the pictures and the reading isn't too heavy. So, I have written the sort of article that you would find in a magazine.

Pretty Passions, Fine Fashions
MAGAZINE
Historical Fashion

FASHION OFTEN lends itself to the past. Each season a new trend will be revived but each time a new spin will be put on it. Despite the fact that a woman’s wardrobe today includes a wider range of new styles than ever before there are often revivals of trends from the past century in her daytime wear. This article, however, is focused on trends from outside this century. From as far back as thousands of years ago and the closest it will come will be one hundred years ago. Fashion changed a lot in that time and it has changed a lot since. However, historically iconic pieces such as the corset and the bustier are often seen to be brought back into a modern wardrobe.
As far as evening wear is concerned the timeline of fashion stretches even further back as draped dresses from the likes of Ancient Greeks are spotted on the modern catwalk frequently.
The purpose of a ball is often to let modern ladies get the chance to dress up. It is a sad fact that women can no longer wear big gowns on an ordinary occasion without being referred to as the local crazy. Nothing stops the catwalk trends as designers need to think outside the box to be successful so at least the era of gowns is not entirely in the past. This season, gowns have been a popular aspect of the collections of Elie Saab, Chanel, Jason Wu, Christian Dior, Valentino, Stephane Rolland, Michael Kors, Chloe, Oscar de la Renta, J.Mendel, Jenny Packham, Marchesa, Carolina Harrera, Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs, Gucci and Christopher Kane. The few events where wearing a gown is acceptable are at a charity fundraiser ball (or any ball for that matter), a red carpet event or somewhere you will be getting lots of photographs taken or you want to make a really big entrance. It is true that wherever you wear a gown it will grab people's attention and you will do even more if you enter the room in a waft of sweet scent. As we are talking about historical fashion I thought I'd mention that the first "modern" perfume was rose water which can easily be made at home! 19th century women would wear perfume as well as gowns and in 1868 the first synthetic fragrance was created. The industrial revolution had in no way diminished the taste for perfume, there was even a fragrance called "Parfum à la Guillotine." In the 19th century women were not meant to be too brave in what they wore therefore many women shyed away from bright colours as those who wore them were often frowned upon. This season, however, the brighter the better. That doesn't mean fluorescent because that would look cheap and disgusting when the whole point of a gown is to look expensive and beautiful but shades of scarlet and purple are perfect. Make sure you wear heels with a gown as they will help aline your posture whilst elongating your legs.

The Pre Ready-To-Wear Spring/Summer 2012 Erdem Collection (left) saw revival of long dresses or gowns. However, these are less 18th-19th Century and more early 20th Century which means that they are a lot easier to pull off, especially due to the return of the maxi as both a catwalk and a high street trend.
The satin dress above is £65.00 from Asos.com and the satin material pays homage to the 19th Century gowns worn by upper class women.
Fashion is never finished therefore trends will be always be brought back. It is more difficult for designers nowadays as they really have to think crazily to really revolutionise fashion but then again the idea of trousers on a woman probably was crazy when Chanel was starting out but it is very difficult for us to imagine that now. SW

So, you've read some of the magazine and now you want to talk to your friends again. If you're all feeling tired and the mood is bad then spark up a new funny, exciting conversation with a funny joke. Below are a few short ones:
A magician was driving down the road..then he turned into a drive way...
Why don't aliens eat clowns.
Because they taste funny.

What do you call a fish with no eyes?
A fsh

Two snowmen are standing in a field. One says to the other : "Funny, I smell carrots too".

What do you get when you cross an elephant and a rhino?
el-if-i-no

N.B. I was really upset because I took a video of a car journey and I tried to upload it twice but Blogger said it wouldn't upload. So, sorry, it isn't as good as it should be :'(

Festival Fashion- Step Three: The Journey

What you will need:
Some good friends- I say good friends because you will be spending a significant amount of time with them and you are supposed to be going to a music festival, not a bitching festival so don't invite those who you are prone to falling out with. I haven't really made this blog too personal so far but I would like to take this oppurtunity to introduce you to my friends. Here they are, in no particular order, might I add:

Everyone needs a friend that they have been friends with for a long time. I don't know if just under three years counts as a long time but Joely has been the only friend I have been friends with from the beginning that I'm still friends with now. She has always been loyal, I can tell her anything and she definitely knows how to have a good time. How many friends could you go on an 8 mile walk with and not start to annoy each other or run out of things to talk about?

Although I have become friends with Molly quite recently we have a lot in common. She also has a blog and we take photos for each other which she is amazing at doing because she has had modelling experience. She will be swimming for England this year! Plus, she won a huge poetry competition two years ago so if you type Molly Tawney into Google almost all the results are actually about her!

Issy is (ha issy is!) always laughing. She says that she's building up a six pack but I think she's just being modest about the fact that she has an amazing sense of humour!

Emily always makes me laugh. She's just so funny even when she's not trying to be and she is actually a really lovely and genuine person.

Katie has helped me quite a bit with the process of writing my book because she literally reads about one book every day so she has read through some of mine and helped me with little improvements I could make.
I have just become close to Hattie recently but she is really sweet and definitely rebelious (private joke!)
Hannah is the one that I mentioned in my post about hairstyles. She is always changing her hair in some way! She is also the best at karate IN THE WORLD for her age group!
It's lucky that Lauren and I get on so well because our friendship has been kind of forced as we sit next to each other in loads of lessons because we're next to each other in the register. I think we would have been friends even if we weren't though because Lauren is the sort of person that you can talk about anything with and she always responds in the way that you would want her to.

A rockin' soundtrack to get you in the mood to partaay!! Perhaps create a CD full of memorable tracks so that whenever you hear those songs afterwards they will remind you of the good times you had at that time. Below is my playlist of my favourite songs-
I’m Into You- JLo and Lil Wayne
Right There- Nicole Sherzinger
Super Bass- Nicki Minaj
Nobody’s Perfect- Jessie J
Last Friday Night- Katy Perry
California King Bed- Rihanna
Where Them Girlz At- David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida
Judas- Lady Ga Ga
Changed the way you kiss me- Example

A substantial amount of food (preferably unhealthy because it tastes nice and you will be doing enough dancing and walking e.c.t. so you will be burning all the extra calories that you have consumed.)
My favourite junk food:

I am a total chocaholic!
My favourite Pringle flavour is without a doubt barbecue.
I love the milk bottles and the jelly babies in here!

A car, a coach or The Volkswagen Kombi (aka a hippie van.) I think that the latter option is the best but unfortunately not everyone can own one of these. A coach can be hired if you are going with a large amount of people. It will be more expensive but everyone can chip in. As this post has a lot to do with pictures and my favourite things, below are my favourite festival vehicles:

And here are my actual cars (well, my parent's cars and they aren't even mine, just the same colour and make.)

I hope you liked this post. I am going to post a virtual festival journey soon, so stock up on your sweets and maybe even invite some friends so you can sit at your computer and enjoy the ride!

What I Wore Today:

Dress, New Look. Denim Jacket, Miss Selfridge. Necklace, from abroad.

Free T-Shirt With This Month's Elle Magazine

I have had to halt the festival posts for now so that I can post this by the end of the month. I bought my first ever copy of Elle magazine a couple of weeks ago and it's really good. I love the fact that the clothes featured inside are a lot more affordable than the ones featured in Vogue and I also love the T-shirt that came free with it. The T-shirt from Reiss comes in a range of four different colours/patterns. I bought the white one with a large fashion illustration on the front however, there is also a peach coloured one with a large fashion illustration on the front, a blue one with a small illustration in the bottom right hand corner and a grey one with a small illustration in the bottom right hand corner. I must admit that I was tempted to buy the magazine four times just to get all the different varieties. I did in the end choose the white one though, purely because I wanted a large illustration and I felt the peach would clash with my skin tone. I was pleasantly surprised that when I tried it on at home later it fitted perfectly. It was almost like it was made for me. I was a bit worried because vest tops can come up huge sometimes, as I recently discovered after buying a size 8 Jack Wills top that comes up huge. I changed into a it straight away and wore it for the rest of the day. Plus it was free!

Festival Fashion: Step Two- What To Wear Look No.3

If you are feeling horticultural (I don't think you can use that word to describe someone but never mind, you know what I mean) or if you want to either blend in with your surrounding environment or contrast brightly then this is the look for you. Think pretty daisies if you want to go for an all British look or bright exotic flowers if you want to resemble a more tropical destination
Descriptions from the top on the left and round in a circular direction.

I always think bra-let tops have an essence of high fashion about them. I think it is probably because it takes a certain amount of confidence to wear one. However, it works mutually. It may take a lot of confidence to wear one but by wearing one you will build confidence. I'm not saying that they are for everyone because they are definately made for a slimmer figure. But if you've got it, flaunt it! http://www.glassworks-studios.com/product/prl10020/

Heart shaped necklines are very in this season on the high street and this dress takes the "heart shaped" term to the extreme. It also gives off a very vintage vibe as did a lot of this season's catwalk shows. Although this dress is from theukhighstreet.com I have noticed that perhaps the most 50s/60s style dresses are sold at Dorothy Perkins so head on over to Dotty P's if you want to get one in time for your festival.

The top from Jane Norman is currently out of stock but it doesn't surprise me seeing as it is perfect for summer and a complete bargain at only £14! It gives off a real hippie vibe due to the peace sign. My theory is that what you wear, effects your mood so wearing this top will help keep your mind at rest and your soul peaceful no matter how deafining the music is that's blasting out the oversized speakers. So basically, this top is comfortable, stylish and perfect for festivals plus it's a complete bargain. So, head to your local Jane Norman because, as I mentioned before, it’s sold out in the online shop.

The leather jacket on the right fits into not one but two of this season’s trends as it is sort of oriental looking as well as being a clash between girly and utility wear.  If you can’t tell already it isn’t a cheap high street buy. I really hope that high street stores start to sell jackets similar to this soon but at the moment they are rarely available for under £1000. This one from mytheresa.com is available for £1780 but if you have the cash I would recommend investing.

Doc Martens have been a festival staple for a long time now (they are almost way up the top with wellies and parkas.) These are not real Doc Martens but they are close enough from infinityshoes.com. They might get covered in mud but that’s a risk that will have to be taken if you want to step out in style.

The dress slightly to the left of the Doc Martens also fits the description of the oriental trend. Although the dress is in a Japanese style I think it’s the clashing patterns and the tassels that really make it. From theoutnet.com.

Floral denim is a big season staple especially with the do-it-all-denim trend coming back in again. The thing that makes the trend different to the one of last season is that it is now more to do with girly details such as flowers and pinafores whereas last year there were a lot of acid wash and denim shirts around. This pair is only £22 from desireclothing.co.uk

To be completely honest I wouldn’t recommend literally taking a maxi skirt to a festival because the hemline will get drenched in God knows what but I just love this one and I couldn’t leave it out. The maxi is a trend from last season that has carried on selling due to the fact that floaty materials are really better suited to summer weather. This one is from Dorothy Perkins for only £20 after being reduced from £35.

Last but definitely not least, the floral rucksack. Now, although I have never been to a festival I can imagine that having a rucksack with you would make life a lot easier as you can carry everything you will need for the day (e.g. bottle of water, tissues, map etc.) and you are not at a great risk of losing it or getting it stolen because most of the time it will be on your back. It is such a good deal because it has been reduced to only £15!!! From Topshop.

Festival Fashion: My Festival Look

Hat, Primark. Dress, Dorothy Perkins. Boots, Jones. Parka, Rocha John Rocha. Shorts, Topshop. Bag, originally from Body Shop and customised with a belt I bought at a garage sale. Sunglasses (second ones seen), Accessorize. Pearls, Primark. Watch, Fruitz.

This is the first time I have gone out to do a photoshoot for my blog but it's so much fun and I hope to do it more in the future. I couldn't have done it without my friend and fellow blogger, Molly. Check out her own blog, The Joys of Life.
