Got it in the Bag

My bag

The main bag that I use is this Ted Baker bag that I think I got for my 13th birthday. The colours mean that it goes with everything. Although it is not a neutral shade, the multi colours match an array of other colours. Here is a list of my favourite bags right now:

But what do I keep in it?

It is all too easy to have an overcrowded bag, especially if your bag is large without compartments. However, it can be just as difficult to chose what to put in a small bag that can only fit a limited amount of items. I have compiled this short list of handbag essentials for all occasions to help you with your packing decisions, even the everyday ones that seem quite small and irrelevant.

Phone

A basic handbag essential. I don't really need to explain why you need this as its pretty obvious; for communication mainly. Every time you leave the house make sure your phone is topped up with enough charge to get you through the day. My phone always seems to run out of charge in the most annoying circumstances. I need to get more organised...

Lipstick/Lip gloss/Lip balm

Because most lipsticks/gloss do not stay on all the time so you might need a little extra top up. Especially in winter, lips can get chapped easily and its always uncomfortable to have sore lips so make sure you have lip balm on you at all times.

Tissues

I always  need tissues and they are a useful item to take around with you.

iPod

To listen to out and about.

Purse

For when you need money. Also store credit cards or any other useful cards here. Adapt your purse size and type to how many cards you have. I have a smart card for getting money out my account, a gym membership card, a Superdrug beauty card and bus pass so I have lots of pockets in my purse. However, I have another purse with no pockets that I

Note Pad and Pen

I love carrying this round mostly for creative purposes. They are great for writers/bloggers as you can make note of any ideas you have when you are out and about. However, this is quite vintage really as now most people have phones to do this.

Snacks

I went through a phase when I always kept a dark chocolate bar in my bag. I would have a cube whenever I felt stressed or sad or anything because you know, endorphins and that. I tried at stay disciplined but  Plus dark chocolate is actually a super food. Its the healthiest type of chocolate, the more cocoa the better. You can also try a cereal bar. My favourites are Eat Natural but I also love Special K ones. Fruit isn't great to carry round unless you plan on eating it that day. If you go on a day trip its always nice to take something to eat for elevenses if you don't want to have to pay. Its especially great if you do not have time for breakfast in the morning.

Mini Hairbrush or Comb

We all get bad hair days so this is an essential for those days.

Mirror and Make-up

Again for little top ups out and about or to transform a look from day to night.

Sunglasses

For those sunny days or when you want to hide your celebrity identity so you don't get chased by the paparazzi.

Mints

To freshen up your breath.

Hand Sanitiser

To use before eating or if the taps in a toilet aren't working or are too hot which is more often than not the case. I don't get why there can't just be a hot top and a cold tap any more. You have to rush your hands in and out just to prevent them getting burnt.

Derek Blasberg quote

"How a girl treats her bag is how she might treat a boy. (Even dirty, kinky boys draw the line somewhere.)"
